I’ve recently got back into my old habit of keeping a prayer journal, which really helps me stay on track. I wish I could find a link online, but this is the closest thing I can find. I buy Mead Brand Cambridge series notebooks from Sam’s Club. It’s only about $6 for 5 or 6 of them. They’re small, 7×5 inch spiral notebooks with 140 pages. I use them all the time…in fact I keep several in use at any given moment. I keep one on my desk for note taking, one for journaling, one for taking notes at church, and one as my prayer journal. The great thing about the prayer journal is that you can keep it on your nightstand to always remind you to pray when you go to bed/get up. You can also flip back through the recent weeks or months and remind yourself of the prayers God has answered. I’ve also found that keeping a prayer journal and praying for the same things every night helps me to memorize those things, so I am more likely to remember to ask someone how something in their life is going when I see them. It’s a great way to reconnect yourself with God.

You can go to the Facebook group here. By the way, Matt Mills helped me come up with the name “Off on a Cotangent.” I probably would have just called it “lifegroup” but regardless, I probably won’t change the Facebook group name. I’m sorry.

This will come in handy while programming this semester. I was used to Ctrl+D in Eclipse and I think I prefer that better because it’s easier to reach with just one hand.

A few nights ago I thought I’d try the shrimp quesadillas from El Vaq…wow, it was amazing. Highly recommended.

Another announcement to make if you didn’t already know, but I’m engaged! I was going to post all the nice details to catalog on the gigantic database that is the internet, but I believe I will spare the details, except that it was at the Chickasha Festival of Light in Chickasha and I used the “pretending to tie your shoe” trick. My fiancĂ©, Sarah, is wonderful and I can’t think of anyone better to spend my life with. So far the date is set for August 15th, 2008.

I was never really that satisfied with my current website. I designed and created the posting system myself, but it was not very user-friendly and definitely not as advanced as I would have liked to made it. But as is a constant issue in my life, other matters were just more important, namely school. So I never got around to updating the system and there was too much “resistance” for regular updates. Keep in mind that this was before/right around the time of when blogging for the masses came out (like WordPress, etc.). I always wanted to try WordPress, but I didn’t have SQL databases with my web host. I even emailed them and asked to upgrade my website (paying them more money in the process), and they wouldn’t let me do it! So after a while of contemplating switching hosts, I emailed them again and asked one more time, and they upgraded me! I’m glad, because that paltry 50MB of storage was getting slim. I carry around more space on my USB drive in my pocket (and technically I still do because I only have the 500MB package).
As far as where to go from here, I’m not certain. I kind of like the default WordPress theme. I looked at several others but so far none has really tickled my fancy…so perhaps that will change later on, or perhaps it won’t. So far I like WordPress and the neat features it has…so this will be an encouragement to write more!
