I’ve moved to Ubuntu

A quick note, I’ve ditched XP 64-bit edition and moved to Ubuntu 8.10. At times it feels like a great release, I enjoy the free software and the neat things that come along with it. Specifically: I love the compiz desktop effects, mainly the “expose” clone. I’ve also installed the Avant Window Navigator, which is […]

The same mistakes

About every semester I make the same mistake, and I usually waste 30 minutes to an hour to try and figure it out. When I do, I feel like an idiot. So I’m writing this in hopes that I’ll remember next time. Every semester I’ll have a program to turn in, and I’ll have to […]

A quick review on Google Chrome

I’m really enjoying Google Chrome, Google’s new fast web browser. It seems pretty fast, although I wonder exactly how it renders because certain “hacks” can be made that trick the user into thinking that things are happening faster (see the trick where you decrease the start menu fly-out delay time to make users think their […]

Cloud Computing

There’s an article from one of the authors of the site Lifehacker on how the editors, separated by vast physical distances, work with each other to keep Lifehacker going. Everything they use to collaborate is web-based. Three of the seven tools are from Google. In “cloud computing,” users no longer have their data tied to […]

Download Firefox 3

Just a reminder that Firefox 3 is out today. I haven’t tried it yet and honestly I didn’t care too much for the Release Candidates (mainly because it broke my add-ons), but I thought I’d contribute to the Firefox 3 Download Day, which seems like a neat endeavor.

Although I’ve known about their existence before, I’ve always shied away from installing some add-on to manage my del.icio.us bookmarks. Why do I need something extra? The website and “post to del.icio.us” bookmark works just fine. I can go to the website and click the tags I want, save it, and I’m done. But here […]
